ABOUT

Hi Sister! I'm Karen, Certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach and NASM Fitness Coach

I have been a successful manager in Corporate America and a health and wellness mentor to my family and friends during my free time. I'm that person that everyone calls to ask for health, exercise, supplements, natural remedies, and any wellness-related advice. But the real obsession behind it is to make people smile—my passion is to help others and help them to live happier and healthier. When I was very young, I lost my loved ones to cancer and promised to change the world. I became obsessed with natural remedies and constantly researched and read about them in my free time. But I became a single mom of two beautiful girls, and life presented me ample opportunities with corporate America with a stable career and financial life. I also had my own company for a short time, but that's another story I share in my testimonies.

The Wake-Up Call

I was always super healthy. I loved hearing my doctors say, "you have the best results," every time during my annual physical exam. I was an athlete, counting my macros and calories, eating a 90% organic plant-based diet, and doing everything by the book. But something happened...

It was 2018 when I had my first-ever trip in an ambulance to the emergency room. We thought I had a heart attack. After several studies, the doctors concluded I had a panic attack. They sent me to a cardiologist and an Internist, just in case, because I continued having panic attacks and my nerves were out of control, which happened overnight. The cardiologist wanted me to take beta blockers and aspirin when I was always healthy and an athlete. The internist wanted me to take Xanax and some anxiolytic medications; nothing made sense when I had never suffered from chronic anxiety before. I saw how my dad became addicted to Xanax, so there was no way I would take it.

With my knowledge, I took control of my health, not only by doing what I knew in terms of nutrition and natural medicine but also responsibly, I found an Internist who is also certified as Integrative Practitioner. She ordered a complete blood screening, including genes, and mitochondrial analysis. We found out that I was depleted from almost everything needed to survive. They call it Chronic Adrenal Fatigue.

How come? Wasn't I one of the healthiest humans in the world? Well, I lost my beautiful mama from breast cancer in January 2018. I didn't realize I was drinking more than social after losing my mom. Her loss and how she died affected me, causing unimaginable traumas. To keep myself busy, I started my own business as a Personal Trainer doing private Bootcamps for apartment complexes in the DFW area and doing Spartan races, NPC Fitness Competitions, and Krav Maga. All of them required rigorous physical activity. No wonder I ended up depleted that year.

So my treatment became beyond food and nutrients. I had to add a strict routine of peaceful activities, including rest, sleep, changing weights for yoga, meditation, hypnosis, a therapist, mindfulness, grounding, acupuncture, massages, and the, most important: praying and accepting Jesus as my savior.

But the story doesn't end here...

The Real Epiphany: "You have breast cancer."

It was July 2020, in the middle of the Pandemic. I was in Houston for a political organization event I was part of at that time. I was in my hotel getting ready when suddenly I had a panic attack. Imagine my surprise and fear thinking about going through the same as I did in 2018. Just so you understand, I didn't have health insurance then, and I had to pay for all my tests, doctor visits, and therapies by cash and credit card. It was an enormous financial burden.

I immediately canceled my participation and drove back home to Frisco, Texas, the next day. That was a Friday. I arrived home feeling like my body was fighting something. My significant other at that time, Will, suggested I take a COVID Test the next day. I called and made the appointment, and next, I decided to go to my room and rest. I sat down in bed and started praying, "God, please tell me what was going on; I don't want to go through everything I went in 2018" "Please help me ."I remained quiet following my "listening to God practices" I learned from Priscilla Shirer, and it was there when I heard, "It is not COVID, it is cancer," and at the same time, I saw myself looking to my left breast. I immediately opened my eyes and said, "Please, Lord, forgive me" "I'm crazy, Lord, forgive me for thinking like this" "That was my unconscious mind ."Of course, I didn't want to believe it.

Long story short:

Saturday: COVID test came negative.

Sunday: I felt a lump in my left breast

Monday: I had the Mammogram and Ultrasound

Wednesday: I had the Biopsy

Following Wednesday: I received the call with the result, "You have Triple Negative breast cancer."

Again, I asked why? I was doing everything by the book for long years to avoid cancer. I was the one telling all my loved ones what to do to prevent cancer because I didn't want to lose another one of them.

Let me tell you this, I was, but I failed in my emotional health. I fail to protect my soul, my heart, and my mind. I was in an unhealthy relationship, an alienated mom, a pain, and a heavy cross I wished no one had to carry. I had a lot of stress from my new job and was unsatisfied with my career.

This sparked my pursuit to become appropriately certified in health and wellness. I decided to join the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN), where I studied more than 100 varieties of dietary theories and practical lifestyle coaching methods. Food is the Secondary Food. Our primary foods are precisely those I lacked: love, relationship, social life, career, spirituality, home environment, joy, creativity, finance, health, physical activity, home cooking, and education.

I armed myself with the knowledge to help myself and help others by working with the root cause. Medications only cure symptoms, some of which can cause more adverse symptoms. I want to help you find the root cause of your ailments and BE HEALED FOREVER!

The first prescription should always be DIET and EXERCISE. Unfortunately, our physicians need to receive education on these subjects, and once in practice, it is difficult for them to find the time.

And please do not get me wrong, I believe in medicine and deeply respect our physicians and doctors. They help, and they want to help. As an Integrative Health Coach, my main purpose is to help you follow their treatments and simultaneously find all the root causes and heal using my holistic approach.

Integrative means that: the combination of the best of both worlds: conventional and alternative medicine. Integrative medicine uses a combination of therapies and lifestyle changes to treat and heal the whole person.

After combining both approaches, my tumor disappeared after the first chemo.  And today, I'M CANCER FREE!

I'm currently pursuing my Certification in Hormone Health to continue helping my sisters suffering from induced Menopause after cancer treatment. I have already "cured" my Menopause, and I can say I have recovered my life and power.  Now is your turn!

As a coach, I put the power back in YOUR hands.
